Teach or Perish

If you haven’t had a chance, check out Jacques Berlinerblau’s piece ‘Teach or Perish’  from January 19th in the Chronicle of Higher Education. Amongst other things, he puts out a call for teaching to be considered the equivalent of research in terms of how we judge faculty success, noting the paradox that “while teaching undergraduates is, normally, a large part of a professor’s job, success in our field is correlated with a professor’s ability to avoid teaching undergraduates (emphasis original)”
